tom is much more than a pretty face...and body. he is an outstanding actor, and in my opinion, the next deniro. he has that sort of intensity, range, and magnetism that draws you in, makes you care, and wows you. i first noticed him in Star Trek: Nemesis, a terrible movie, but he was brilliant, stunning, unforgettable. i can still summon up in my mind the mixture of rage, shame, and sheer emotional pain that colored his face in a pivotal scene. Even in bad movies, he is always magnetic, a scene stealer (something he has in common with our commander cumming). his portrayal of the insane heathcliff in wuthering heights was devastating. his bill sikes in oliver twist, excrutiating to watch. he is so vibrant and THERE, so PRESENT and fearless in his presentations.
i cannot recommend him highly enough.
just for comparison, i don't see alan as in the same category of actors as tom, here. they both exude incredible charm and are infinitely watchable and tremendously hot in their own way, but alan has not tapped into the dark side like tom has, and you sort of have to go there, even stay there a little bit, to be THAT good.
i didn't mean to write an essay, but there you go. hehe :)
you know, I finally saw Inception not long ago and I was rather impressed...
Not just with the movie, silly - with this actor. I'll try and catch up, keep an eye on his achievements, all that...
... shouldn't be too hard, with you around, alive and kicking, ...
