Prop 8 Overturned

How amazing it is to hear sanity and justice and truth and kindness in relation to equality for gay people. My favourite part of the decision is the judge's well-constructed and utterly invincible argument that marriage is not something that is entered into as only a means to procreate! There is no testing of your child-bearing potential when a marriage licence is given out so how can it only be applicable to a man and a woman, and how can it not be prejudiced to not allow a same sex couple to enter into that union?

Inception

Three weeks and almost $200 million domestic ticket sales later, “Inception” is still reverberating in the minds of millions. I, for one, saw the midnight IMAX showing and then saw it again the next day (yeah I geeked out, I work here, what did you expect?). I’m not going to get into the nitty gritty of all the details of the movie or offer my own theories about certain images and characters. I just wanted to note the obsessive way we as a culture have received the movie.

When I was a kid I used to obsess over toys. All I could think was: How can I convince my parents to buy me the Ghostbusters Proton Pack? When is that new Pocket Power coming out? How many more months til my birthday? When’s Hannukah? Don’t I get money for Passover or something?

Louis C.K.

I've only been lucky enough to see Louis C.K. perform live once. I own every one of his stand-up specials on DVD and can damn near recite all of them word for word. I grew up listening to Steve Martin, Richard Pryor and George Carlin albums and would stay up late to watch A&E's Evening at the Improv throughout my high school years. There have been a lot of comics that I identified with and a lot whose style of delivery I tried to emulate, but Louis C.K. has always been untouchable to me. One should never be so audacious as to think that they could even come close.
