Skyline Movie Trailer 2010 HD & Budget Information | Box Office Blog - Weekend Box Office Reports, Predictions & more

Universal Pictures has just released the first full Skyline movie trailer in HD, nearly fifty days to date following the teaser trailer they debuted at Comic-Con 2010 and online shortly thereafter.
For those who are yet unaware of the film's existence, or its main storyline and plot: Skyline is set in Los Angeles, CA, where glaring blue lights start to descend upon the city, prompting people to take a closer look which proves to be a source to the coming demise of the human existence.
Extraterrestrials have invaded earth, and they're not friendlies. The rest of the movie takes off from there, as can be seen in the below trailer.
Though only thirty-nine seconds longer than the original teaser, the full Skyline trailer shows us a plethora of new footage, specifically the extraterrestrials/alien beings who have come to Earth, and how they seek control/domination.
All in all, the trailer looks very intriguing, and will undoubtedly draw comparisons to District 9, although in an Independence Day type setting.
What's interesting with Skyline is that the film's main cast members are virtually unrecognizable by name to the average movie-goer, prompting the fact that the movie will rely primarily on the Science-Fiction, Alien Invasion premise as well as special effects, rather than quote unquote big-names to attract moviegoers.
As of now, it looks as the effort is working well. Skyline has already garnered a significant amount of attention, and has already started to go viral to a certain degree. 
Skyline marks the second full-length directorial effort from brothers Colin and Greg Strause, with their first directing gig being Aliens vs Predator - Requiem, which earned more than $128 million worldwide at the box office.
The Brothers Strause are known specifically for their work in the Special Effect department of film production, having worked together on more than sixty films. Just to put their skills/experience into perspective, they have worked on notable films such as Titanic, Avatar, 300, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, among many others. 
In fact, the duo founded a Special Effect facility in Santa Monica, California in 2002 by the name of hy*drau"lx, working on VFX for a very large variety films over the years, including the recently released, Iron Man 2.
The company has been the subject to legal letters from Sony Pictures, that looks as thought it might be brought to court hearings. Sony Pictures originally hired hy*drau"lx to work on some of the various special effects on their big-budget Sci-Fi Action film, Battle: Los Angeles, which quite evidently also takes place in Los Angeles, Ca and largely features extraterrestrial beings.
According to various online news outlets, Sony claims that Hydraulx used "Battle: Los Angeles" equipment on Skyline, which they quickly refuted. There has yet to be a legal conclusion in the public dispute.
Either way, Skyline reportedly managed to evoke the major-looking-production and special effect heavy film on a tiny budget. According to various sources, Skyline had a budget rumored somewhere between $9 million and $20 million.
With a production cost so low, and already a large amount of interest in the film, Skyline looks as though it could be a sizable financial success for Universal Pictures.
