Tennis is life. As I write this, the US Open is underway at Flushing Meadows. And the final grand slam tournament of the year will surely be full of wonderful surprises. But it's not just about the watching it on television. It's all about playing the game too. The court's dimensions only change between doubles and singles and the pros play on the same court with the same rules as those of us who play recreationally through the United States Tennis Association leagues. Rene Lacoste, who most of us know as the creator of the iconic collared cotton knit shirt with the alligator on the left portion of the chest, invented the concept of the exterior logo. Yes, that's correct, folks. Lacoste shirts were the first to have logos on the exterior part of a piece of clothing. Love it or hate it, we would be in a different world without our brands. Aside from all that, one of the best things about this sport is the fact that you can play it as long as you can get out there and stand on the court and swing a racquet. It's not unusual to see a 65-year-old beat up on an 18-year-old. It's all about the angles. Tennis players can enjoy playing tennis their whole lives. Not sure you can say that about every sport.
