The fiction genre and subculture that involves combining Victorian aesthetics (and their steam power, naturally) with modern technology and sensibilities. Good examples of the genre include Jules Verne's books (one of the precursors to modern steampunk, along with H. G. Wells' fiction), The Difference Engine, Back to the Future 3 and Wild Wild West, along with many others. With the subculture, you're likely to see people dressed up in a rather brilliant mash-up of Victorian fashions, along with plenty of goggles and steamy augmentations. Oh, and tinkering plays a big part in all this as well, as seen with things like Datamancer's computers. Basically, it is gorgeous, amazingly fun and simply epic.
