nashville flood

nashville, tn declared a state of emergency after the city experienced horrible flooding over the first weekend of may 2010. the results have been catastrophic. the cumberland river flooded downtown nashville, destroying businesses. it crested at 12 feet above flood level. neighborhoods around town were flooded, destroying peoples homes. many are still sitting in water. the beloved grand ole opry was flooded, forcing them to move venues. the opryland hotel experienced at least 10 feet of water. the county has been placed under a mandatory water conservation. President Obama announced a federal disaster in 6 counties. FEMA funds will be distributed. the death toll is over 20 and counting. the clean up has just begun. it's going to take some time. the extent of the damage is still unknown. nashvillians have stepped up to volunteer and help each other. the city could use more support from the rest of the country.
