Australian actress who most people first noticed in the 1998 film Elizabeth, directed by Shekhar Kapur, in which she played Elizabeth I of England. She is amazing in everything she does, Benjamin Button, Notes on a Scandal, Lord of the Rings, the criminally underseen Veronica Guerin, Babel, I'm Not There, The Aviator... all of that and she and her husband Andrew Upton are currently artistic directors of the Sydney Theatre Company.
