American Psycho

This book is easily one of the most controversial cult novels of our generation. Author Brett Easton Ellis paints a picture of a wealthy, succsessful, ambitious but totally insane Patrick Bateman. The story is told in the first person by the protagonist, serial killer and Manhattan businessman. The book's graphic violence and sexual content generated a great deal of controversy before and after publication in 1991. Nearly 20 years on, Ellis's work recently has been described as "one of the key novels of the last century." A film adaptation starring Christian Bale was released in 2000 to generally favorable reviews. Words to describe the cult classic novel and film: -Yuppie -Sizzling and Hot -Disturbing in too many ways -Hilariously satirical -portrait of fabulous wealth -cautionary tale -look inside the criminally insane mind -90's wall street modern culture
