Top 10: Tips To Win A Fight, Starring Oscar De La Hoya - AskMen.com
Oscar De La Hoya has won an Olympic gold medal in boxing, has defeated 17 world champions and has collected 10 titles in six different weight classes. Needless to say, the Golden Boy knows a lot more than a thing or two on how to win a fight.
As De La Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions prepares for the big showdown between "Sugar" Shane Mosley and Sergio Mora this Saturday night at the STAPLES Center (available on HBO Pay-Per-View), it’s safe to say that both fighters should listen up -- Mora especially, if he wants to make the week of the 200th Mexican year of independence more memorable.
Here are Oscar De La Hoya's 10 tips on how to win a fight.

Power punches come when you're on the ball… of your foot
"First off, you want to make sure your laces are tied. You know, you don’t want to trip and fall or run into a punch. Secondly, when you’re ready to throw a left hook or a right hand, you want to make sure you’re on the balls of your feet; that’s where you generate the most power."
"The key to throwing a knockout punch is make sure that -- if you’re throwing the left hook -- you protect yourself with the right hand. If you’re throwing a haymaker, your opponent is likely going to also throw a haymaker, so make sure you keep your hand up on the other side to protect yourself."

Protect the family jewels
"The family jewels -- that’s key. Beyond that, chin is very important. You want to protect the chin but in boxing, you never know. You have fighters that go straight for the jewels, so you’ve got to protect yourself at all times."
