My Life With Doctor Who
Tom Baker was my first Doctor. The special effects were fabulously cheezy, and, come on, he had K-9! The Doctor was Mad under Tom Baker's rule, and I enjoyed him thoroughly in reruns on my local PBS station throughout the 70's and 80's. Then there was a long lull. I finally heard through a local library DVD search that there was a new series! I may have been one of the few Minnesotans who knew who Christopher Eccleston was, being a devout Shallow Grave fan, and thought "he's perfect!" I was right. A very very good Doctor. But... then... I saw Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Some kid nearby said "it's Doctor Who!" and I said "hello?" and next to Tom, David Tennant is my favorite! Some of the quirky mannerisims David has added to the Doctor are classic! The reading glasses, the desire to be ginger, the various facial ticks and tweaks, are all absolutely perfect! I haven't seen the new Doctor yet, but am eager to finish up with #10 and move on to #11 as soon as fiscally possible! Saving the Universe One Face at a Time! (I volunteerr for companion duty!)
